It was really a shocking incident that came to light in Thanjavur as a couple sold their four kids to a goat herd owner. On Monday, the incident was revealed by the NGO that the four siblings were in bondage and already lost two years of their precious childhood days.
As per the report, the victims are identified as Vetrivel (9), Velayutham (8), Sakthivel (7), and Sundar (6). The report stated that G Govindarajan who is a goat herd owner paid Rs 62,000 to the victim’s parents (Sundaraj and Bapathi) for herding 500 goats.
G Govindarajan initially said to the NGO officers that the kids of Sundarraj are his relatives’ kids but later confessed it. During the rescue operation, one of the members stated, “The owner verbally and physically abused them. On that particular day, the owner hit them severely as one of the goats in the herd was missing”.
Further, the report states that the couple wasn’t able to fulfill their daily needs, so Govindarajan somehow convinced the duo to sell two of their boys and told them he won’t give much work to them.
As per the Times of India reports, M Ranjith who is Thanjavur’s revenue divisional officer has already initiated the investigation on this and told that severe action is to be taken against Govindarajan for forcing the children into bonded labors.
