Assam Police arrested a culprit who fooled several people. He promised them a job with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The culprit Rana Pogag was arrested after his fiance Junmoni Rabha filed an FIR against him. The twist is… Junmoni Rabha is a cop in the Nagaon district!
Pogag had been lying that he was working with ONGC in Assam. Moreover, he asked people for money in deals for offering them a job in that company. Police say that Pogag fooled people for crores of rupees. The culprit presented himself as a public-relations officer to Junmoni Rabha who is a sub-inspector in Assam’s Nagaon district. Initially, there was a short conversation, and then the two got engaged in October 2021. In November the couple were supposed to get married.

Speaking to the media, a police officer said,
“When Junmoni met the culprit, he presented himself as an ONGC officer. They decided to get married in November. But fortunately, Junmoni realised that he cheated on some people. Promising to give them jobs and contracts in the ONGC.”
The officer added,
“She checked his bag and noticed some fake seals and documents of the ONGC. However, she lodged an FIR. We registered a case. And then we arrested him.”
As soon as Junmoni realised that her groom was a fraud, she filed an FIR and added to the media
“I am thankful to the three people who came to me with details about him on how big a fraud he is. They opened my eyes.”
