Honesty has come down to being just an empty word. We rarely witness anyone keeping their word. It has become very difficult to stumble upon such humble incidents which we will be seeing today. 11 years ago, a doctor named Bhagwat Singh had a patient called Ram Sahay. He was suffering from an intense stomach ache. Singh had to perform an appendectomy (a surgery in which the vermiform appendix is removed) on him.
Ram Sahay didn’t have the money to do the surgery. Seeing the inferior state of his patient, Singh told him lovingly to pay the fee whenever he manages to gather the money. And he began the surgery, not expecting the fee from his patient.
It was after 11 years when he encountered his good old patient. The patient came down from Haridwar to Punjab and visited the hospital but unfortunately, Singh was out of town. When he returned, he found Sahay in his hospital. He got to know that Sahay was waiting for him for 2 days.
Sahay had come to pay the indebted fee of the surgery that Singh had intended to do for free. Singh was astounded by the man in front of him. He was deeply touched by his patient for keeping his word.
“For me, the fact that he came back after 11 years to pay me is a huge thing,” an emotional Singh said as he embraced Sahay in a hug.
Singh didn’t want him to pay the fee. But Sahay insisted that for all these years, he did everything he could to collect the money and he wanted to unload the burden.
The internet is buzzed with awestruck emotions toward the patient. People are dazed by the kind act of both the patient and the doctor. These are the kind of people that we need in this era. The kind gesture and tenderness that has been between the duo are highly treasured.
