You can provide love even if you don’t have anything with you. This is a story of an 80-year-old woman who lives in Karnataka. Ashwathamma belongs to Kanchagodu village near Gangolli in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district.
She has been striving for alms at the doorway of temples after the demise of her husband 18 years back. And has donated Rs 1 lakh to the Rajarajeshwari Temple. Ashwathamma utilized only a tiny part of her savings for her expenditures. And the remaining was deposited in a bank for donations to temples and charities.
She had piled Rs 1 lakh through begging in one month during Rajarajeshwari temple’s annual festival. She gave over the money to the temple trustees on Friday for the ‘Annadana’ program of the temple. Ashwathamma said she wanted no one to go hungry so that’s why she returned the money she’d accepted from the people.
She is a devotee of Lord Ayyappa. And she had also given Annadana at the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. She had charitably contributed to orphanages in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
