The pandemic caused by coronavirus has created chaos all over the world. As much as it has impacted every society physically, mentally, and emotionally, it has also majorly impacted the environment. As the number of cases continues to be at a peak the use and wastage of masks, PPE kits, and other sanitary products are also at a peak which has become a threat to nature.
While everyone of us is doing our bit to keep ourselves and the environment safe, there are many people coming up with initiatives to make things easier. One such initiative was taken by Karnataka man “Nithin Vas” working as a social entrepreneur and environmental activist in Mangalore to produce eco-friendly masks.
The eco-friendly masks grow into plants when they are sown after use, these masks are made up of cotton rags and cotton linings as first and second layers and are embedded with seeds in them. However, it’s advised not to wash them as they are made of cotton and may dissolve. They might not be as soft as the surgical masks but they are durable.
Kudos to the people working for a greener environment and safer country!
