Police seized gold from Arumbakkam inspector’s house. However it was said that one of the accused was the relative of the officer’s wife. The man had also tipped the cops for hidden gold in his residence

A gang of robbers hijacked a branch of NBFC in Chennai on 13th August around 2:30 pm. During the investigation it was surprising to see a police officer who was involved in the Arumbakkam case. 3.7 kg of gold was recovered from the officer’s residence on Thursday. Along with this Santhosh, the inspector’s relative also tipped the officers about the gold he had hidden in the house.
The robbers had threatened the NBFC employees with knife points. They were alo tied up in a room taking away all the gold worth Rs. 15 crore which is equal to 31.7 Kg. Police officers arranged various terms to find the robbers. However they could only identify M Murugan, P Suriya Prakash, M Santhosh, Balaji and Villivakkam from the gang. After which Balaji and Santhosh were immediately arrested. A total of 18kg/s gold was recovered.
Later 9.28 kg of gold was recovered by Senthil Kumar, Murugan and Suriya.The accused were arrested and their vehicles and cars were arrested.
