After a 17-year-old girl commited suicide in Kallakurichi, the officers arrested her the teachers for torturing the girl . In a message that she left behind, the child expressed her concerns about mathematics and chemistry teachers . The girl was forced to make the drastic decision to end her life as a result. The girl was found dead on July 13; however, the school has declared a holiday Monday, July 18.
Officials from the school claim that they are not involved in this issue in any way. However, the police have arrested Sivasangaran, the school’s principal, along with Shanti, the secretary, and school correspondent Ravi Kumar.
The girls family protested outside the schhol seeking justice. Later, As hundreds of people arrived, the protest grew violent, and nearly 15 buses that were parked inside the school were set on fire. Both S Selvakumar, the superintendent of police at Kallakurichi, and deputy inspector general M Pandian suffered injuries. 350 protesters were arrested following the event, and some private schools were closed on July 18.

After the girl’s father filed a complaint with the high court, the situation is currently being investigated. In Kallakurichi, the police have issued Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Act until July 30.
