Metro In Noida Brings In Toilet Facilities To Transgender, Check Out How The Toilets Look Like?

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has decided to provide toilet facilities exclusively for transgender who is traveling and working for them. They have planned to install this in their aqua line stations. 

This initiative was started on account of the transgender day of remembrance, this Friday. Under this, a ‘toilet of for all’ with no restrictions on gender and physical ability is built to be used by the transgender community. 

The toilet is built with extra facilities such as signages for toilets and a multi-purpose foldable tabletop for extra utility. At present, the Noida Metro has 21 of these toilets in addition to the normal ones and is spread across all its units.

“In its efforts to provide safe space and prevent gender discrimination against transgenders, we have provided the designated existing toilets be accessible for the transgenders on a priority basis,” Says Ritu Maheshwari the managing director of NMRC.

To make the toilets visible and to differentiate signages in both English and Hindi is installed Besides the provision of such toilets, any transgender who wishes to use the regular gender-based toilets can continue to do so. NMRC has also planned to install more such restrooms in its aqua line stations.
