After the great box office victory of Beast, Yogi Babu is on a signing spree. And now he has been signed to play the lead in a time travel film. Also to appear in the role of Lord Shiva. The film is titled “Periyandavar”. This will go on floors in mid-July or August. Kannan said,
“I had first described the one-liner of Periyandavar to Yogi Babu while shooting for Kasethan Kadavulada. Finally, when he was dubbing for his role, he saw the absolute result of that film and told me he was completely impressed. And that we should begin our next film shortly”
Kannan also said that he worked on the script for three years. “I was inspired by Rajkumar’s PK,” He said. The topic is heavy, but we will treat it with a hint of comedy.”
Elaborating the script Kannan said,
“Lord Shiva arrives to earth and meets a girl. And the movie will trace their conversations and chronicle their voyage. We are in talks with a leading heroine to play the girl role.”
The tale is set in the 60s-70s, and also in 2022. Art director Rajkumar has pitched a huge set of a temple on ECR. Chelladhurai is operating the camera. While Suriya will be doing the edit. Kabilan Vairamuthu is writing the dialogues. And Kannan himself is handling the story, screenplay and production.
