Karthik, an eleven-year-old studying in 7th grade in a government school at Puzhal. His father passed away a few years ago leaving his mother to look after her two sons, Ramsaran and Karthik, all by herself. She worked at Anna Nagar Garments store. A few months ago, she moved to the 8th Street of Kamarajar Nagar at Puthagaram near Puzhal.
On that day, she had gone to work leaving her sons behind at their home. Both the boys had come to a decision that they would play a game to pass the time. Karthik spoke his thoughts on the scenes that they usually watch on TV shows. He declared to do the part where he had to act like committing suicide. And his elder brother, Ramsaran, had to burst into the room to rescue him.
Karthik locked the door of the room from inside. His thirteen-year-old elder brother remained outside and peeked into the room through the window. Karthik seized a robe, weaved one end of it around his neck, and stood on a stool. He then began tightening the other end of the robe to the ceiling fan. Unfortunately, his feet slipped and the stool beneath his stool fell. The noose around his neck tightened as he kicked and tossed his feet, unable to tolerate the suffocation.
Whilst, Ramsaran was looking through the window horrified at his younger brother who was trembling out of the grasp of the noose around his neck and crying out for help. He ran towards the room and tried unlocking it but in vain.
He stormed out to call his neighbours who came and busted open the door. They quickly admitted him into the hospital. By the time they reached the hospital bringing an unconscious young chap. The doctor claimed that unfortunately, they couldn’t be of any help to them since the boy had already passed away.
