News Broadcasting Standards Authority(NBSA) has criticized 2 regional and one national news channels for targeting and reporting against Tablighi Jamaat and Muslim community in 2020.
On 16th June 2021, NBSA condemned Times Now, Suvarna News and New 18 Kannada for targetting Muslim community during the Pandemic in 2020. A complaint has been filed against these channels.

Among the 3 channels one channel has been asked to apologize to its viewers.
In March 2020, thousands of people across the country had attended the congregation which was organised by the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz. Not only from India but hundreds of believers across the globe came down for this congregation.
The news channels reported that several Covid 19 cases were discovered at the Markaz. Which provokes the people to blame the Tablighi Jamaat for spreading the virus.
According to NBSA, they said that the news channels reported in such a way which made humans assume they were the culprits and they are the ones who are spreading the virus
As per NBSA, The language, tone and attitude was way too insensitive and disrespectful. The reporters were biased, provoking and had crossed all the limits. They never bothered others feelings and concerns. They blamed a particular religious group. They built hatred among communities.
