A 30-year-old woman found dead at a hotel in Aizawl. This happened six days after she went missing. As per the reports, the woman is a resident of south Mizoram’s Lunglei town. She would have fallen into the elevator shaft of the hotel from a malfunctioning elevator door.
It was a murdered says her family. The woman went missing from the Lushai Hills Residency hotel in the city’s Zarkawt area on April 14. She arrived in Aizawl along with her boyfriend on April 13 to appear for a competitive examination. Then they were staying at the hotel.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said,
“Her boyfriend lodged a missing complaint with the police. After the investigation, the decomposed body was found at the base of the elevator shaft on Tuesday evening. As per preliminary inquiry, it is suspected that the woman fell into the shaft. Straight from a malfunctioning elevator door in the hotel lobby. The door was supposed to be shut when the elevator was not on that floor”.
The couple drank in their hotel room on April 13 at night. After which the boyfriend went to sleep around 10 pm. Later the girl drank more liquor. After examining the CCTV footage, the officer said the women dint leave the hotel. The boyfriend is now in police custody for further interrogation. The woman, the eldest of four siblings, was in a relationship with the man for the last seven years, and both loved each other passionately, the family said. The woman proposed marriage to him several times but his family refused, they alleged.
