TOP 10 CHILDHOOD GAMES
Antakshari is that one musical game which has been successfully uniting friends and families since generations. One will start this game by singing any random song; other participant has to form a chain by singing another song which begins with the last alphabet of the previous song. Seems interesting, isn’t it?
School going budding teen-agers just couldn’t stop themselves by playing this mad “relationship game” called FLAMES (Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, Sister) during recess or proxy periods. Usually, a girl’s & boy’s names will be written on a piece of paper. The common letters in their names will be stuck out. The total number of remaining letters say ‘n’ will be traced & struck back and forth on the word FLAMES until only one unstuck letter retains and that will be declared as their relationship with each other… Crazy!!!
3) RINGA-RINGA ROSES
Hushha… Bushha… We all fall down! No child can ever forget reciting these reliving words wile feeling the joy of marry-go-round being on the ground itself.
4) OPS AND BATS
Ouch! Now this is a bit painful and the manly game generally played by Boys. If ops matches ops and bats matches bats then all okay, otherwise get set to have a punch on your back. Aao!
5) VIDEO GAMES – Contra, Mario & Brick Game
Before X-Box and PS arrived, video games with cassettes used to be the favourite playtime for students after school/tuition.
(6) LATTOO / BHAVRA
A top winded with a thick thread suddenly starts to rotate once released. Some players hold expertise in making them rotate them on their palms, bouncing through the air.
7) WWE PLAY CARDS
Flashy cards with all the metrics about WWE Champs. The opponent who has higher points wins!
8) LUDO AND SNAKES ‘N’ LADDERS
A dual-sider indoor board game played in each home. It comes in all sizes from mini portable to a giant version.
9) 16 CHITS
4 Players. 4 Names. 16 Chits. Unlimited fun! Names of any 4 things (fruits, animals, place etc) will be written in sets of 4 across 16 chits. 4 participants will form a circle and sit. Folded chits will be tossed on the floor. Each one will select their 4 chits and continuously pass any 1 unwanted chit clockwise until the one all the 4 with same names and becomes the winner.
10) CHIPPI / STAPOO
Children might hate mathematics but they love it is applied to games like Stapoo also known as Hopscotch. 10 checks made on the ground with chalk. Each check will contain a single digit from 1 to 10 in order. Player throws a chip and it falls under any 1 check. He/she folds his one leg and hops through all the numbers to pick the chip up. This continues till all the checks/numbers are covered.
